Where Exactly Is Sabrina Homestay in Duong Dong?

We are on Nguyen Du, a short residential street in the centre of Duong Dong town, the main settlement on Phu Quoc’s west coast. The full address is 16 Nguyen Du, Khu Pho 5, Duong Dong, Phu Quoc, Kien Giang.

Duong Dong itself sits about 9 km northwest of the airport. Our street runs parallel to — and one block east of — Tran Hung Dao, the main beachfront road. How Do You Get to Sabrina Homestay from Phu Quoc Airport?

The airport is 9 km south of us. On a normal day with no roadworks, expect 15–20 minutes by car and around 20–25 minutes on a motorbike (the main road has a couple of slower sections near Duong Dong town centre). These are the three practical options:

Option 1: Grab (Most Guests Use This)

Open the Grab app before you walk out of Arrivals. Type 16 Nguyen Du, Duong Dong as your destination. The app shows a fixed upfront price — currently 90,000–130,000 VND for a GrabCar, or 55,000–80,000 VND for GrabBike. Prices vary with demand; you will see the exact fare before you confirm.

One thing to know: Grab pick-up at Phu Quoc Airport is from the designated taxi rank outside Arrivals, not directly at the terminal doors. Walk about 50 m along the covered walkway and you will see the rank sign. Drivers know where to wait.

Option 2: Metered Taxi

Mai Linh (green cars) queue at the official taxi bay. Always check the meter is running before you set off, or agree a flat fare: 100,000–150,000 VND for the 9 km to central Duong Dong is reasonable. Mai Linh has been operating on the island for years and I have had no complaints from guests.

Avoid drivers who approach you inside the terminal offering “private car” deals. They are rarely cheaper and the pricing is unpredictable. Step outside and use the official rank.

Option 3: Xe Om (Motorbike Taxi)

Independent xe om drivers wait outside Arrivals. For one person travelling light, a motorbike taxi from the airport is 60,000–90,000 VND and takes about 20 minutes. Agree the price before you get on. This is fine if you know the island a little; if it’s your first time on Phu Quoc and you have a full suitcase, the car is more comfortable. Note that GrabBike drivers willing to take luggage can be scarce at the airport, so if you have bags, GrabCar or a metered taxi is the more reliable choice.

How Do You Get Here from the Long Beach Pier?

Some guests arrive on the island by speedboat from Ha Tien or Rach Gia on the mainland, docking at Ben Tau Long Beach (the Long Beach pier, also called Ben Tau Rach Gia depending on the operator). From there to the homestay is about 1.5 km north along Tran Hung Dao road — the main coastal strip.

You have three choices. A xe om from the pier ranks outside the terminal costs 30,000–50,000 VND and the driver will know Nguyen Du. A Grab is even simpler if you have the app and your phone has data: show the pin, confirm the VND 35,000–55,000 fare for the short hop, done. Or just walk: the road is flat, there is a decent pavement, and 20 minutes in the evening (not the midday heat) is genuinely pleasant. How Do You Get Here from Duong Dong Bus Station?

The main Duong Dong bus station (Ben Xe Duong Dong) is on Nguyen Trung Truc street. From there, we are about 600 m to the south-southeast — an easy 10-minute walk or a 20,000–30,000 VND xe om ride.

On foot: exit the bus station, turn right (south) onto Nguyen Trung Truc, walk roughly 400 m to the junction, then turn left onto Nguyen Du. Number 16 is on the right side about 200 m along. The street has a small blue sign at the junction; if you miss it, any local shopkeeper will point you straight there.

If you are carrying heavy bags and do not want to walk in the heat, xe om drivers wait at the bus station exit. Show them the address card: “16 Nguyen Du, Khu Pho 5, Duong Dong” and they will take you for 20,000–30,000 VND. The whole ride takes about 5 minutes.

Grab vs. Xe Om vs. Metered Taxi — Which Should You Use?

The honest answer depends on what you are carrying and whether you have the Grab app set up. Here is how I would break it down:

Grab is the cleanest option for most people. The price is fixed before you commit, you can pay by card or wallet, and the driver’s details are in the app so there is accountability. The Grab app works well on Phu Quoc and drivers are generally fast to accept rides near the airport. Metered taxis are a reliable backup if you cannot get a Grab or prefer a human you can talk to. Mai Linh in particular has been on the island for years and the drivers are professional. Just make sure the meter is on.

Xe om is fastest and cheapest, but has one real downside on the airport route: 9 km with luggage on a motorbike is awkward. Solo travellers with a backpack? Fine. Two people with rolling suitcases? Take a car.

One thing I tell guests: do not accept rides from touts inside the arrivals hall. Step outside. The metered taxis, Grab pick-up, and the xe om rank are all in plain sight once you are out of the building.

What to Do When You Arrive at the Homestay

The front gate on Nguyen Du has a small handwritten sign. Ring the bell or message me on WhatsApp — +84 948 523 139 — and I will come out. If I am already hosting check-in for another guest it might take two or three minutes.

Check-in is from 2:00 PM. If you land on an early morning flight and your room is not ready, you are welcome to leave your bags with me and go explore. The morning market is a 4-minute walk. There is a good coffee shop on the corner of Nguyen Du that opens at 7:00 AM — that is where I send guests who arrive at 9:00 and need somewhere to sit for a couple of hours.

A few guests each month arrive late at night, after 10:00 PM. That is completely fine — just let me know your flight number and I will wait up. Do not show up unannounced at midnight and ring the bell repeatedly; a WhatsApp message when you land costs nothing and makes everything smoother for both of us.
